399 RED
A collaboration that protects Grizzly 399's legacy
This collaboration between Jackson Hole Winery, artist Amy Ringholz, and Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation is a tribute to the iconic grizzly bear, 399. A portion of the proceeds from every bottle of 399 RED goes directly to Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation to support our work protecting the wildlife that make our valley so special.
Grizzly bear 399 was a symbol of resilience, adapting her behavior to protect her cubs by staying near roads and developed areas to avoid aggressive male grizzlies. Her story resonated with people around the world, making her a beacon of how much we cherish the wild animals of this valley. However, her life also highlights a critical challenge: the increasing conflict between wildlife and vehicles. Tragically, 399’s life ended in a vehicle collision. The proceeds from this wine will help carry on her legacy, funding projects that reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions and ensuring other animals don’t suffer the same fate.

When a figure becomes such a huge inspiration to folks who live in and visit the wilderness it is hard to ignore their greatness. We have enormous respect for wildlife who are able to survive the everyday challenges on their own. To do so, while caring for a string of baby bears, is something special and we are very proud to be a part of honoring 399. We are excited to join forces with a premier local artist like Amy and to work with the dedicated folks at Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation to continue to raise funds to support wildlife.
How incredible that 399 can continue to inspire and make an impact even beyond her lifetime. Through this collaboration, the Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation is able to support vital work for wildlife in her honor. I’m proud to be part of a project that gives back to the very essence of what inspires my art.
This partnership is a way to connect art with wildlife conservation. The wine crafted by JH Winery, its name, and the artwork all shine a spotlight on the urgent need to protect wildlife along our roads. Grizzly 399 embodied the resilience of wildlife – while also revealing the real dangers they face. We are beyond grateful for this partnership!

About the Wine
399 RED is a bold and expressive blend of 75% Petite Sirah and 25% Zinfandel, sourced from premium vineyards in Sonoma County. This full-bodied wine showcases a deep, inky hue and an opulent profile, unfolding with concentrated aromas and flavors of blackberry, blueberry, and ripe plum. Layers of warm vanilla spice, clove, and a subtle note of black tea add complexity and intrigue. On the palate, 399 RED is rich and structured, with a dense, velvety mouthfeel balanced by a vibrant thread of juicy acidity that lifts the finish and invites another sip. A compelling wine that speaks to the power and finesse much like the matriarch of the Tetons, Grizzly Bear 399.
